Endometriosis can be a debilitating condition for some women. Curcumin is a component of several Chinese herbs that have been traditionally used to treat endometriosis. It is also found in high amounts in curry. Researchers recently began to look at this in controlled settings and found that curcumin both helped prevent endometriosis from spreading AND helped actually eliminate it (induced apoptosis). So if you suffer from endometriosis, consider adding curry to your diet and seeing your local Chinese or Ayurvedic herbalist.

Curcurmin (turmeric) one of the main ingredients in curry is a potent anti-inflammatory. What’s amazing is pairing it with pepper (i.e. piperine) magnifies its properties exponentially. So much so that one may want to check other drug interactions. Days when I don’t eat something with curry I take organic curry which I simply put in capsules. As a pescatarian who successfully follows the endo diet in lieu of hormone shots and heavy pain killers (I’m stage IV), it is one of the most wonderful spices in my kitchen. There is an overwhelming body of supporting data in the benefits for those with allergies, joint pain and basically any issue which is caused by inflammation. What’s not to love?
